Red Dead Redemption 2 - PC Version Things You Should Know

After massive success on PS4 and Xbox One the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released on November 5th.

So lets take a look at what we might expect from the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2.

PC Specifications

Firstly the minimum requirements you need to be able run the game on PC:

• OS: Windows 7 - Service Pack 1 (6.1.7601)
• Processor: Intel Core i5-2500K / AMD FX-6300
• RAM memory: 8GB
• Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 2GB / AMD Radeon R9 280 3GB
• Hard disk storage: 150GB
• Sound card: DirectX compatible

Now here are the recommended requirements:

• OS: Windows 10 - April 2018 Update (v1803)
• Processor: Intel Core i7-4770K / AMD Ryzen 5 1500X
• RAM memory: 12GB
• Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB / AMD Radeon RX 480 4GB
• Hard disk storage: 150GB
• Sound card: DirectX compatible

Game Improvements

Graphically the game looked great on PS4 and Xbox One.  On the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2 expect to see greater visual improvements.  The PC Version will have better lighting, shadows with more resolution, improved textures and extra changes. It will also have 4K and HDR including multiple configurations so everthing looks better.

Red Dead Online

When released on PS4 and Xbox One Red Dead Redemption 2 did not feature the online part of the game.  Red Dead Online will be available with the PC release which also include all the updates and Western Crafts.

Additional Content

With the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2 we can expect to see new content. We will have two new treasure maps, new missions, new weapons and horses. There will also be three new bounty hunter missions included for us to enjoy.

Game Mods

I expect to see future Game Mods for the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2.  As with many PC games there is always the possibility that some users will come up with some great modifications to the original.  Just like some we have seen released for GTA V and the Sims for example.  Surely this PC version will already include support for creating Mods.

Rockstar Game Launcher

You can get your copy of Red Dead Redemption 2 from the Rockstar Game Launcher.  There are some great incentives if you get the game through  the Rockstar Game Launcher.  You will receive additional content, a war horse, a survival kit, a treasure map, money or gold bars.  Another reason for using the launcher is you can grab yourself two classic games, choose from Bully, L.A. Noire, Max Payne 3, GTA Vice City, GTA San Andreas or GTA III.

If you don't want to get the game via the Rockstar Game Launcher.  You have other options available, you can get it from other platforms like the Epic Games Store.

Reservation for the game is currently only available via the Rockstar Game Launcher. From October 23 it will be available for reservation on other platforms.  If you reserve a copy of the game from any other platform you receive 50 Gold Bars.  If you do via the Rockstar Game Launcher you will receive all the goodies above. 

If you want to get you copy of Red Dead Redemption 2 from Steam, you will have to wait.  On release, Red Dead Redemption 2 will not be available in the Valve digital store. It is expected to be available sometime in December 2019.
